This author chat features Dr. Lisa M. Corrigan and her new book, BLACK FEELINGS: RACE AND AFFECT IN THE LONG SIXTIES, and Andre E. Johnson with his new book, NO FUTURE IN THIS COUNTRY: THE PROPHETIC PESSIMISM OF BISHOP HENRY MCNEAL TURNER, both from University Press of Mississippi’s Race, Rhetoric, and Media Series. The authors will discuss the role of Black leaders (secular and religious) in the freedom struggle, obstacles to Black freedom, the role of racial feelings in the production of Black liberation, and opportunities as well as failures in Black organizing. Race, Rhetoric, and Media Series editor Davis W. Houck will moderate.
